To subscribe private equity funds that intend to invest in Italian SMEs with development plans based on structural as well as external growth.

Strategy

Focus on funds that target small and medium-sized enterprises operating in Italy with turnover of less than € 500 million (and in particular, turnover of less than € 150 million) with real growth prospects.

To create “champions” that can compete beyond a national level, through structural growth and aggregation processes and to improve the strategic positioning of the companies also by improving the management structure.

Luigi Tommasini is a Senior Partner at Fondo Italiano d'Investimento SGR since November 2010. Luigi has significant experience in the private equity sector, and before joining the Fondo Italiano team in November 2010, as one of its first members, he was a member of the funds -of -funds team of AXA Private Equity (private equity-focused global investor with over EUR 20 billion of assets under management at their London office where he was in charge of identifying, concluding and managing investments with a commitment in private equity funds of over EUR 1 billion in both primary (new funds) and secondary markets. Luigi has served on several advisory boards of Italian and foreign funds and has been a member of the investment committee of the AXA Private Equity small buyout/expansion fund. Before joining AXA Private Equity he worked for Apax Partner (at their London and Milan offices) focusing on company acquisitions in Europe and in the retail sector. Luigi began his career as a management consultant for McKinsey&Company at their offices in Milan, São Paulo (Brazil) and San Francisco (USA) and was a summer associate at Goldman Sachs' London office, working in the M&A division. Luigi graduated with honours from the Bocconi University in Milan and obtained a MBA (Palmer Scholar) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in International Studies from the Lauder Institute of the University of Pennsylvania.

Roberto Travaglino is a Senior Partner at Fondo Italiano d'Investimento SGR since September 2014. Previously Roberto has worked for 15 years in Barclays, both in Milan and London, where he held various Corporate and Investment banking positions and developed broad expertise in financing solutions for Italian corporates. Lately Roberto was a member of the Debt Finance team, responsible for originating and executing financing transactions for Italian mid corporates. From 1999 to 2008 Roberto was part of the Investment Banking division, where he worked on several LBOs, acquisition financing, capital markets and syndicated loans transactions. Before joining Barclays, Roberto worked for KPMG Corporate Finance (1996-1999) in financial advisory, and Arthur Andersen. Roberto graduated in Business Economics from the Catholic University of Milan and completed Corporate Finance and Capital Markets courses at Harvard University. He is a Chartered Accountant since 1996.

Clementina Bonaduce has been a Senior Investment Manager at Fondo Italiano d'Investimento SGR, since August 2014. From 2013 to 2014 she worked in Garnell Advisory as a business analyst where she mainly followed the investments of a renewable energy fund and several extraordinary finance transactions of SMEs. Previously, she worked as an intern in Rothschild's M&A team. Clementina graduated with honors in Corporate Finance at L. Bocconi University in Milan. During her academic career, she participated to an Exchange Program at the Norwegian School of Economics.

Nicola Cancellara has been a Senior Investment Manager at Fondo Italiano d'Investimento SGR, since September 2015. From 2011 to 2015, he worked in the investment team of Dea Capital Alternative Funds, where he participated in the selection and investment process on a global scale of private equity, private debt and venture capital funds. From 2007 to 2010 he worked at Kairos Partners in the funds of hedge funds team. Nicola graduated in Economics of Markets and Financial Intermediaries from Bocconi University.

Federica Maccaferri is a Senior Investment Manager at Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR, that she joined in March 2017. She previously worked for 9 years at Mediobanca, holding different positions inside the Corporate & Investment Banking dept. From 2008 to 2011 she worked as equity research analyst in the Mediobanca securities division, with a particolar focus on banking and real estate sectors, devoloping analitical, critical and modeling skills. Later she worked inside the Corporate Finance division, where she developed particular skills related to debt advisory and extraordinary finance, taking part into M&A operations, company and debt valuations, public tender, exchange offers and IPO’s. She graduated in Management Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Milan.

Caterina Manzini has been Investment Manager at Fondo Italiano d'Investimento SGR since January 2021. 
Previously, she worked in CDP where she was in charge of the launch and monitoring of private equity and private debt funds focused on the Italian economy.  Previously, she gained experience in YNAP Group as a strategy specialist, and in the private debt fund Anthilia BIT. She started her career at the private equity fund Yarpa. Caterina graduated in Economics and Finance from L. Bocconi University in Milan.

Anna Pezone has been a Portfolio Manager at Fondo Italiano d'Investimento SGR since June 2020. Previously she worked at the Family Office Bootes Srl where she was in charge of all administrative functions and relations with subsidiaries and outsourcers. From February 2018 to September 2019 she worked at Space Holding Srl in the role of Office manager and Head of the corporate technical secretariat. From 2007 to 2018 she worked as head of all administrative activities at Mezzanine S.r.l. and subsequently at Inbetween SGR S.p.A., covering transversal roles that allowed her to consolidate her administrative, financial and relational skills and to broaden her knowledge in the field of regulations governing SGRs in relations with supervisory authorities. From 1998 to 2007 she worked as an Investor Relator and Head of the Lugano Branch of Kiwi I and Kiwi II Ventura Servicos Venture Capital Funds. Anna graduated with honors in Modern Foreign Languages and Literature from Università Federico II di Napoli.

Fabio has been an Associate at Fondo Italiano d'Investimento SGR since December 2017. Previously he got experience as part of the Sales team at Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking, where he supported the structuring of derivative instruments, and in a securities brokerage company of the Ersel SpA group, where he supported the selection of open funds by institutional clients. He has also gained experience as an intern at Ernst & Young in the Audit division. Fabio graduated in Banking & Finance at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and attended a Summer School at Warwick University (UK).

Rosanna Di Girolamo has been an Assistant at Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR since November 2010; after a twenty-year experience in McKinsey&Company Inc., a leading international strategic consulting and management firm, she decided to gain new professional skills and, in January 2000, she joined the team of the investment bank Lazard & Co., an international leading financial advisory and asset management firm.
