Domenico Lombardi

Domenico Lombardi has served as Chief Executive Officer of Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR since October 2025. He is also a member of the Board of AIFI – the Italian Private Equity, Venture Capital and Private Debt Association – and Professor of Practice in Public Policy at LUISS University. Over the course of his career, he has held senior positions at international financial institutions and banking groups. He has served as an Independent Director of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, where he chaired the Nomination Committee, acted as Vice Chairman of the Related Parties Committee, and was a member of the Risk and Sustainability Committee. Previously, he was Chief Executive Officer of Banca di San Marino, where he led the bank’s restructuring process. He began his career at the Bank of Italy and subsequently became a member of the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund and later of the World Bank in Washington, appointed by the Bank of Italy. He has been awarded the honor of Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
Domenico holds a degree with honors in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan, where he specialized in Financial Intermediaries Economics, and a Ph.D. in Economics (Econometrics) from Nuffield College, University of Oxford.
