Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR: New Board of Directors Appointed for the 2025–2028 Term

Milan, 31st October 2025 – The Shareholders’ Meeting of Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR has appointed the new Board of Directors for the 2025–2028 term.

The newly appointed Board includes Barbara Poggiali, reconfirmed as Chairwoman; Domenico Lombardi, who was appointed Chief Executive Officer and General Manager during today’s Board meeting; and Directors Sabrina Coletti, Piero Cucunato (independent), Paolo Fabris de Fabris (independent), Francesca Fonzi, Katia Franchitto (independent), Emilio Giorgi (independent), Stefania Godoli, Elio Lolla (independent), Giorgio Piazza, Marco Elio Rottigni, and Costanza Scarsi.

At the same time, the new Board of Statutory Auditors was appointed, comprising Luigi Corsi, reconfirmed as Chairman; Standing Auditors Domenico Sapia and Giuseppa Maria Teresa Lamicela; and Alternate Auditors Mario Signani and Francesca Adelina Alice Monti.

Biographical Notes

Barbara Poggiali has served as Chairwoman of Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR since May 2022. From 2019 to 2020, she was Managing Director of the Cybersecurity Division at Leonardo. Previously, she held roles including Strategic Marketing Director at Poste Italiane and Chairwoman of PosteMobile (2014–2017), Executive Vice President and Board Member at LUISS University (2013–2014), and Partner at Earlybird Ventures (2011–2013). From 2004 to 2011, she was Chief Development Officer at RCS MediaGroup and CEO of Dada. Earlier in her career, she held senior roles at Omnitel (now Vodafone Italy), e-Biscom (now Fastweb), and Cable and Wireless Plc. She began her career at McKinsey & Company and later joined Bain. She currently serves as an independent director at Impresa Pizzarotti & C., Business Integration Partners, and Epta Refrigeration; is a board member and angel investor at My Air Inc.; a board member at Bocconi University; and a senior advisor at Klecha & Co. She holds a B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.

Domenico Lombardi is an economist with extensive experience in senior leadership and governance roles across national and international financial institutions. He graduated with honors in Business Economics from Bocconi University and earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Nuffield College, University of Oxford. He began his career at the Bank of Italy and later served as Advisor and Alternate Executive Director for Italy at the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. In the banking sector, he held top roles at Banca di San Marino—leading its restructuring and governance enhancement—and currently chairs the Supervisory Body of Extrabanca. He is an independent director at Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena S.p.A., where he chairs the Nomination Committee, serves as Vice Chair of the Related Parties Committee, and is a member of the Risk and Sustainability Committee. He is also Professor of Practice in Public Policy and Director of the Policy Observatory at LUISS School of Government, and has authored numerous publications on economic, financial, and governance topics. Previously, he was a Senior Scholar at the Brookings Institution and Director of the Global Economy Department at the Centre for International Governance Innovation. He has been awarded the title of Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR

Founded in 2010 at the initiative of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and participated by CDP Equity, Intesa Sanpaolo, UniCredit, ENPAM Foundation, ENPAIA Foundation, ABI, Banco BPM, and BPER Banca, Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR's main objective is to manage closed-end mutual funds aimed at channelling capital towards the system of excellent Italian companies, combining the goal of return on invested capital in line with international benchmarks with that of fostering the growth of the Italian productive system.
