Fondo Italiano d’Investimento Accelerates Delivery of its 2026-2030 Strategic Plan: Over €1 Billion Committed to Private Debt, Impact Investing and Strategic Value Chains

Two new fund-of-funds launched with a combined fundraising target of €500 million

Fondo Italiano appointed manager of the €600 million Fondo Imprese, the investment vehicle of Italy’s National Made in Italy Fund

Milan, 6th August 2026 – Fondo Italiano d’Investimento is further accelerating the implementation of its 2026-2030 Strategic Plan, launching initiatives worth over €1 billion aimed at strengthening its role as Italy’s national private capital platform supporting SME growth, strategic supply chains and impact investments.

In this context, two new indirect funds have been established, focused on Private Debt and Impact Investing, while Fondo Italiano has also been awarded the management of the Fondo Imprese (the investment vehicle of the Fondo Nazionale Made in Italy, promoted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance in cooperation with the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy), bringing the overall fundraising target to more than €1 billion.

More specifically, the Fund of Funds Private Debt Italia III (FOF PDI Tre), now in its third generation, has a fundraising target of €300 million and continues to support the development of the Italian private debt market, helping companies access financing sources complementary to traditional bank lending.

The Fund of Funds Impact II (FOF Impact Due) is a second-generation impact investment fund with a fundraising target of €200 million. Its objective is to channel financial resources towards projects capable of generating measurable social and environmental benefits alongside market-rate returns.

In addition, in July of this year Fondo Italiano d’Investimento was appointed manager of the Fondo Imprese, the investment vehicle of the Fondo Nazionale Made in Italy, established by the Ministry of Economy and Finance in cooperation with the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy. With a capital allocation of €600 million, the Fondo Imprese is a key instrument to support the development, consolidation and revitalization of Italy’s strategic industrial supply chains in sectors that are critical to the country’s economic security and competitiveness, including the energy transition, digital transformation and critical raw materials.

These latest initiatives are fully aligned with Fondo Italiano’s new strategy, which aims to establish the firm as the leading reference point for private capital in Italy through its unique mission as a market-oriented investor with a systemic role, generating a dual value proposition: attractive returns for investors and sustainable growth for the country.

Barbara Poggiali, Chairwoman of Fondo Italiano d’Investimento, commented: “The implementation of our Strategic Plan is progressing with consistency and determination. Being entrusted with the management of the Fondo Imprese is an important recognition of the role our asset management company can play in combining market discipline with the strategic interests of the country.”

Domenico Lombardi, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Fondo Italiano d’Investimento, stated: “The initiatives announced today represent an acceleration in the implementation of our Strategic Plan and a significant step-up in our ability to deploy capital effectively. Through the launch of these new indirect funds and the management of the Fondo Imprese, we are further strengthening a platform capable of integrating private equity, private debt, impact investing and dedicated instruments supporting the strategic supply chains of our economy. Our goal is to mobilize long-term capital towards the most dynamic SMEs and the sectors that will drive a significant share of Italy’s future competitiveness. It is through this ability to combine market returns, industrial growth and a systemic vision that Fondo Italiano intends to consolidate its position as the leading private capital platform in Italy.”
