Fondo Italiano d’Investimento Awarded the Management of Fondo Imprese of Fondo Nazionale del Made in Italy

The Fund, established by the Ministry of Economy and Finance in cooperation with the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, has €600 million available to support strategic Italian companies

Milan, 22 July 2026 – Fondo Italiano d’Investimento (FII) announces that it has been selected to manage Fondo Imprese, the investment vehicle of Fondo Nazionale Made in Italy established by the Ministry of Economy and Finance in cooperation with the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy. The Fund is dedicated to supporting companies operating across the strategic value chains of the Italian economy. The appointment further reinforces Fondo Italiano’s role as an institutional partner in implementing industrial policy through market-based investment solutions aimed at fostering the competitiveness, innovation and growth of Italian SMEs.

Established under Law No. 206 of 27 December 2023 (“Organic Provisions for the Enhancement, Promotion and Protection of Made in Italy”), Fondo Nazionale Made in Italy was created by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to support the growth, strengthening and development of Italy’s strategic industrial value chains, in line with the country’s industrial policy objectives. Fondo Nazionale Made in Italy comprises two investment vehicles: Fondo Real Asset and Fondo Imprese, the latter entrusted to Fondo Italiano d’Investimento. The Fund’s investment guidelines are defined by the Strategic Technical Committee established within the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy.

Under the mandate awarded, Fondo Imprese will make direct and indirect investments in the equity of SMEs operating in sectors of strategic importance to the Italian economy, supporting their innovation efforts, international expansion and long-term competitiveness. Particular attention will be devoted to value chains involved in the processing, sourcing, reuse and recycling of critical raw materials, a key component in accelerating the energy transition, as well as to businesses promoting circular economy models and sustainable industrial development. Through these investment initiatives, Fondo Imprese aims to enhance the resilience of Italy’s industrial value chains and strengthen the competitiveness of the national manufacturing system, in line with Fondo Italiano’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.

Domenico Lombardi, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Fondo Italiano d’Investimento, commented: “The award of Fondo Imprese management mandate represents a further and significant recognition of Fondo Italiano d’Investimento’s ability to combine rigorous market expertise with the development needs of Italy’s productive system. We will leverage our extensive investment experience to support the growth of Italian SMEs and strengthen strategic industrial value chains, contributing to the competitiveness and resilience of the Italian economy.”

The management of Fondo Imprese is fully aligned with Fondo Italiano d’Investimento’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, which aims to further strengthen the firm’s role as a systemically oriented market investor, generating a dual impact: attractive returns for investors and sustainable growth for the country.
